Questions
What counts as a node?
The install that holds the license counts as one node, and so does each instance sync replica it pushes to, pull replicas included. Standbys of a dashboard cluster and dashboard replicas on the same PostgreSQL database are not extra nodes. The dashboard's License page shows how many you use.
Can I try a paid edition first?
Yes: request a 14-day trial key for Business or Enterprise. No payment details are needed. Trials are one-time only: one per e-mail address and company domain. For an extension, or for MSP, talk to us.
How is the license key checked?
It is a signed file, verified on your server against the public key built into the release. Checking it needs no network, so it works offline and in air-gapped networks. You install it on the License page of the dashboard or with PUT /api/v1/license. If you turn on automatic updates (off by default), renewed keys install themselves: the dashboard asks the license server once a day, sending only the license id and its refresh token.
What does Homelab's non-commercial use mean?
Personal use on your own servers. Running Ingressi for a business, a client or an employer needs Business or above.
Is the code open?
The core is MIT-licensed. The paid features live in the ee/ directory of the same repository under the Elastic License 2.0: you can read, run and change it, but not offer it as a managed service or work around the license checks. How licensing works.
What is still on the roadmap?
Virtual patches for new CVEs from a signed feed, coming soon; upgrades of dashboard replicas on PostgreSQL without stopping every replica, the next phase of high availability; and the first long-term-support release line. All three will be part of Enterprise. PostgreSQL itself is free; high availability already includes shared certificate storage, several dashboard replicas on one PostgreSQL database, a SQLite dashboard cluster with automatic failover, and shared forward-auth sessions and API balances. Roadmap.
Do you sell more than 10 Enterprise nodes, or custom terms?
Yes. Talk to us.
